One way to help is through breathing. This is simple and effective. Breath normally, but as you breathe in count in your head to 4. Then breathe out normally to 9, the only observable difference is the out breath is longer. These numbers are not set in stone and you can breathe in longer and out shorter, but the out breath should be longer.

How does this work? Anxiety is in the part of the brain called the primitive or reptillian┬ábrain, there is no logic just action, the longer out breath creates a naturally occuring ‘calm’ response and this helps the anxiety lessen. The counting forces or allows your logical brain to come into play and as you persit with the breathing you will calm yourself. This is an efective tool and no drugs.
